A 41-Year Manufacturers' Rep Firm Trades Three Parked Domains for One 56-Route Site

A from-scratch build for a La Center, Washington manufacturers' representative: 16 manufacturer pages, engineering tools, and a three-domain cutover that kept Microsoft 365 email intact.

cf-portland.com
Control Factors Portland: the website Agentic PNW built

Objective

Control Factors Portland (Control Factors, LLC) is a manufacturers' representative based in La Center, Washington, founded in 1985: sixteen manufacturers of steam, valve, filtration, and process equipment, shipping factory-direct anywhere in the USA.

The web presence did not match the line card. cf-portland.com was a GoDaddy placeholder page, while cfpdx.com and cfactors.com did little more than forward domains and carry email. A buyer searching for a represented brand found nothing the firm controlled.

There was also a name problem: an unrelated company, Control Factors, Inc. of Woodinville, Washington, ranks for the same name. The new site had to tell the two apart for visitors, search engines, and AI answers, not just look good.

Two Control Factors, one clear answer

  • Disambiguation copy across About, FAQ, the facts page, llms.txt, and agents.md: not affiliated with Control Factors, Inc. of Woodinville
  • The schema graph carries the same disambiguation for entity resolution
  • Product framing stays national (factory-direct anywhere in the USA); steam trap surveys stay honestly regional: Oregon, Washington, Idaho

The Opportunity

A rep firm founded in 1985, with sixteen manufacturers behind it, had almost no web presence at all: a GoDaddy placeholder on cf-portland.com and two more domains doing nothing but forwards and email. Meanwhile a same-named company in Woodinville (Control Factors, Inc., no relation) owned the search results, so even buyers who looked the firm up could land on the wrong business.

The Solution

We built a 56-route Next.js site as a fully static export: a filtration-first line card of sixteen manufacturer pages with real logo art, six industry pages, eight service-area city pages kept for local search, five engineering resources, a steam trap savings calculator, and a guided quote wizard with honest mailto forms. Entity disambiguation is load-bearing across the About page, the FAQ, a public facts page, llms.txt, agents.md, and the JSON-LD graph, so search engines and AI assistants stop confusing the firm with its Woodinville namesake. Product copy frames nationally (factory-direct anywhere in the USA) while on-site services stay honestly regional.

The Impact

The site is live at cf-portland.com after a three-domain GoDaddy-to-Vercel cutover: cfpdx.com and cfactors.com redirect permanently to the canonical apex with paths preserved, and the Microsoft 365 mail records on both redirect domains survived byte-for-byte. The September 2026 line card (sixteen manufacturers, Hayward update adopted) is hosted on-site as a PDF and as machine-readable JSON. The firm finally has a web presence a buyer, a search engine, or an AI assistant can resolve to the right Control Factors.
